Stronger Together: Why Women Supporting Women Changes Everything

There’s an old story that women are each other’s competition — that there’s only so much room at the table, so we’d better guard our seat. It’s a lie, and a costly one. The truth is quieter and far more powerful: women rise together. When one of us is lifted, we all stand a little taller.

At Leyabelle, we see it every single day. Women hold so much — work, family, the invisible mental load, the pressure to be everything to everyone. And the thing that lightens that weight most reliably isn’t a product or a quick fix. It’s each other.

Why solidarity between women matters

So many of us carry our hardest moments alone, convinced we’re the only one struggling. We’re not. Behind almost every calm face is someone quietly holding a lot. When women choose to support one another — honestly, without competition — something shifts. Isolation turns into belonging. Shame loses its grip. We remember we were never meant to do this alone.

Supporting other women isn’t charity, and it isn’t weakness. It’s how we build the kind of world we actually want to live in — one where lifting someone else doesn’t cost you a thing, and often gives you everything.

What gets in the way

Comparison is the thief here. Social media hands us a highlight reel and invites us to measure our behind-the-scenes against everyone else’s best moments. It’s exhausting, and it quietly turns potential friends into imagined rivals. Naming that pattern is the first step to breaking it — because another woman’s success was never taking anything away from you.

How to actually support each other

Solidarity isn’t a grand gesture. It’s small, consistent, and completely within reach:

  • Celebrate out loud. When a woman does something well, say so — publicly, generously, without a “but.”
  • Check in. A simple “how are you, really?” can be a lifeline on a hard day.
  • Recommend and refer. Send business, opportunities, and good words her way. Be the person who opens doors.
  • Listen without fixing. Sometimes she doesn’t need a solution — just to feel heard.
  • Share what you know. Mentor, advise, pass on the thing you wish someone had told you.
  • Show up. For the launch, the hard week, the ordinary Tuesday. Presence is everything.

The quiet power of writing it down

Some of what we carry, we’re not ready to say out loud — and that’s where writing comes in. Putting words on a page is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself. It untangles the noise in your head, helps you notice what you actually feel, and gives your worries somewhere to live other than your own shoulders.

Writing helps us support ourselves, so we have more to give others. It’s also how many women find the courage to speak: a sentence written in private today becomes something you can say out loud tomorrow. If you’d like a gentle place to start, our journal Anchor was made for exactly this — somewhere to set things down, three minutes at a time.

A space for women, at Leyabelle

Everything we do at Leyabelle — in the clinic, in the academy, in the small daily moments of care — comes back to this: helping women feel lighter, stronger, and less alone. We believe in women championing women, and we’re proud when this becomes a place where that happens.

So here’s a small invitation. Today, do one thing for another woman: a genuine compliment, a message, a recommendation, a moment of really listening. And be just as kind to yourself. We are, without question, stronger together.
